The Nissan Qashqai has been named the ‘Best Car for City Drivers’ in the AutoTrader New Car Awards 2020.
Unlike some other automotive awards, AutoTrader’s New Car Award winners are decided by the British car-buying public and are therefore the consumer champions of the best cars available today. The Qashqai was voted the ‘Best Car for City Drivers’ by 9,000 new Qashqai owners.
Erin Baker, editorial director, AutoTrader said; “The Nissan Qashqai takes the honours in a closely fought contest. Running costs are important for city drivers and here the Qashqai is triumphant. With a peerless combination of excellent reliability, space and comfort, the Qashqai is a clear winner.”
Andrew Humberstone, managing director, Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd. added; “Qashqai’s winning formula has led the market for crossover sales in the UK since day one, and we don’t expect that to change any time soon. We’re absolutely delighted to win this award, not just for recognising Qashqai as a fantastic car for urban drivers, but because it was voted for by thousands of Qashqai owners. They’ve put their trust in Nissan and are enjoying their purchase decision – that’s so important to us.”
Since Nissan launched the first-generation Qashqai in 2007, pioneering the crossover segment, it has remained the market leader thanks to its practical and desirable SUV styling, combined with the efficiency and dynamic performance typical of a hatchback.
A special version launched for 2020, the Qashqai N-TEC has a striking new look with all-black 19-inch alloy wheels and details including darkened LED headlamps. The black-themed upgrade continues inside the QASHQAI N-TEC with Alcantara®-trimmed seats.
Technology is also upgraded, adding the advanced ProPILOT system and Intelligent Park Assist, which are standard on the range-topping Tekna grade. To further help drivers enjoy their drive, the Qashqai N-TEC features the NissanConnect infotainment system, which includes Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ to ensure effortless connection to digital life.
In March 2020, Nissan also unveiled a new £52m XL press line at its UK manufacturing plant in Sunderland as preparations ramp up for the hotly-anticipated next-generation Qashqai.
